Editorial Review
Since most people are reasonably familiar with Angie Hart's Frente background, we figured we'd talk about some of the other aspects of her career. After all, just about everyone knows she enjoyed massive success with Marvin, The Album, and then escaped to the US following the media backlash over Accidently Kelly Street. We all know that, right?
The US proved both a reprieve from the Australian media and also a fertile environment for Hart and the band. Initially anyway; constant touring saw them disband shortly after the release of their second album in '96, and a disastrous return trip to Australia. With Frente gone, Hart teamed up her then husband to form Splendid. The duo would appear on Joss Whedon's Buffy The Vampire Slayer twice and release two albums. Whedon liked Hart so much he collaborated with her on a song for Buffy and then cast her in his Firefly TV series.
And that just about brings us up to date. Hart relocated back to Melbourne in 2005 and released her debut solo album last year, Grounded Bird. It features the kind of delicate, breathy vocals she's renowned for and cements her reputation as one of this country's most unique singers. So, if you missed the initial tour, she's now back out on the road, profiling both the latest album and all-new material.
